Hear From Our Community

The Miracle Center still means home to me. It was a safe place where I got to imagine and express my gifts and interests (some that I didn’t even know I had). Most importantly, it means family because of the genuine love and care that was poured into me growing up that I still hold close. The greatest impact of my experience with TMC is the lifelong friendships and mentorship that I have. The people I met through The Miracle Center are some of the best and closest people in my life and it’s a blessing. TMC also encouraged me in my faith and understand how to use my gifts to uplift others. One of my most memorable moments at TMC was a summer when my friend Yaritza and I created our first duet together for a summer showcase with our dance teacher Anais. The story and creative process of that performance forever influenced my love and heart for dancing. And the closeness that grew between the three of us is something that I will never take for granted. Those ladies are still so special to me. I want you to know that The Miracle Center truly is a place where the heart of what they do is for the people. You get to see their service to the community through the sports, youth, and creative arts programs. And you’ll always feel a welcoming atmosphere and leave feeling better than when you came.

A memory that always sticks out to me is being in the minivan headed to the beach (Lake Michigan) during Kings Camp singing songs. Mary has grown/transformed TMC into something extraordinary that if I lived in Chicago, my six year old daughter would be proudly active in TMC.

The Miracle Center was a safe house for me growing up as a child and teenager. It gave me space to explore the creativity and leadership skills within me. It helped build my social skills and formed lasting friendships and familia. As a participant, to Junior Counselor, to Resident Choreography, to After School Program Coordinator it shaped me into a leader within our community. To give back to the children, Youth and families in this beautiful city. It brings a joy to my heart to see the impact TMC has and will continue to pour into the next generations.
