Programs
After-School Program
Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 6:00 pm, and on school holidays, children between the ages of 7 to 13 arrive at The Miracle Center to receive tutoring and academic assistance, participate in arts and crafts, sports, and a variety of multi-disciplinary performing arts classes such as Latin dance, hip- hop, drama, and music. These classes provide a safe, productive, and fun vehicle to express children’s creativity. We also provide children with a hot meal on a daily basis and take the children on a field trip at least once per quarter. The curriculum operates on a quarterly basis. Thus, children have a chance to set goals and see them through. In addition, their instruction remains new and innovative. At the end of each quarter, the children showcase their talents to parents and the community.
Summer Arts Program
The Miracle Center provides campers, ages 7-13, with a curriculum of safe, fun and encouraging summertime activities designed for personal growth, cultural recreation and self-expression through the performing arts. The Summer Arts Program is offered June 23rd till August 16th. Check back here for information on the 2008 Summer Arts Program! For more information contact, Jose Sanchez, Senior Program Director.
TMC Youth Theater Company - Teen Apprenticeship
The MiracleCenter recruits 20-30 youth, between the ages of 14-19, to train them in different multi-disciplinary performing arts careers. Over the course of the year, the youth learn to create and develop dance ensembles, choir groups, and musical productions. The intention for the apprentices chosen to participate in The Miracle Center’s Youth Theater Company is to provide them with strong practical life skills via the theatre experience. YTC implements theatre games, improvisation and role playing to help in this development. In addition, the apprentices are taken on field trips to quality professional productions which will expose them to the level of excellence as well as bring in a professional talent agent to open up to them the endless possibilities that can be theirs in the entertainment industry. The apprentices in The Miracle Center Youth Theater Company will learn the techniques of acting, costuming, lighting, music, make-up and dance as well as working as a cohesive unit to create, write and perform a production. Lastly, apprentices learn to design, construct and paint scenery as well as promote and manage the final presentation.
